Hawai’i is home to untold biodiversity and some of the most beautiful landscapes on Earth. But did you know that Hawai’i is also ground zero for experimentation of genetically engineered (GE) crops designed to resist ever more toxic chemical pesticides? With GE crops and their accompanying pesticides, the land beloved by residents and visitors alike is slowly being poisoned by five of the largest corporations in the world. Communities in Hawai’i are concerned about the long-term impacts of these chemicals on their health and the health of the land, water, and ocean.

The power of the Aloha Spirit

I stumbled upon this article through a close friend of mine & was surprised by the content. A young local U.S. Marine who’s name is William Ragiles, uses his talents & culture to keep the morale and spirit alive within his fellow brothers in arms by playing the ukulele and singing songs. Watch the awesome clip below.

U.S. Marine Cpl. William Ragiles, a food service specialist with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command, from Hawaii, finds peace and tranquility by playing his ukulele in Al Taqaddum, Iraq. Ragiles often times plays the ukulele for his comrades helping keep morale high. Marines and Sailors with SPMAGTF-CR-CC are currently deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, which focuses on defeating the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. – dvids

“The American Occupation of Hawaii”

Interesting, thought provoking video reposted by Walter Ritte, this is a proposal trailer of a documentary currently being shot by Gorav Kalyan and Dr Rohan Kalyan in Hawaii. The documentary is a presentation and examination of the ideas of Dr David Keanu Sai, who, through his research, has concluded that the Hawaiian Islands have never ceded their sovereignty and have been illegally occupied by the United States since 1898.

Kanaka Express – Na’i Aupuni

Very interesting interview between Kanka Express Host, Kale Gumapac & guest Dr. Keanu Sai, who is an instructor at Windward Community College. Dr. Keanu Sai specializes in Political Science, International Law, Hawaii Kingdom Law & Hawaii Land Titles.

Kale Gumapac & Dr. Keanu Sai talk about Na’i Aupuni and the confusion the state of Hawai’i as a whole are enduring.

Guy’s Grocery Games Finale

Screen shot 2016-02-01 at 3.52.20 PM

Fresh Catch’s owner & good friend of ours, Reno made it to the Finale of Guy’s Grocery Games. After 2 crazy rounds, Reno found himself making it to the third round going head to head against opposing chef, Carl.

For their Game 3 dish, the chefs had to make an Elevated Dive Bar Dinner. Guy had them shoot pool to determine the aisles which they could shop. Reno & Carl also ended up being limited to using just seven items or less to create their dish’s.

Reno made a Puerto Rican-inspired nachos with tomato salsa and pork tenderloin stew. G called Reno’s the dish “dynamite”, feeling Reno really elevated the dive aspect but Aarti(judge) felt as it wasn’t dynamic. That decision knocked Reno out of the competition leaving him to come in at 2 place for Guy’s Grocery Games.

Congratulations Reno! Second place ain’t bad at all. Considering all the other chefs that took a chance just as you did. Good to see the hawaiians getting the recognition and shine their hard work and passion deserves.
