Waimanalo Matters

Waimanalo located on the eastside of Oahu, is a small local community. The kind of community where everybody knows everybody. When driving through Waimanalo you get the sense and feeling of old Hawai’i. Moms & Pops stores, beach parks & one lane roads with little to no traffic lights or street lights. Unfortunately, a tragedy took place last night in little old Waimanalo town….

ANYONE (resident & nonresident of Waimanalo) that would like to show support for our community concerns please feel free to join us… {even if its by sharing this post}after last nights accident… its time our community takes a stand & our voices be heard by HIDOT & anyone else that has refused to listen… they must know what these newly installed LED street lights has done & will continue to do if it remains on our streets… its time they know that due to lack of visibility 2 community members have gained their angel wings… its time they know that we no longer will be silent while trying to address these concerns at our “Neighborhood Board” Meetings… its time they know that their “agenda” has stripped our community of our safety… we as a community will gather in unity & always with aloha we will make our voices heard… this issue needs to be addressed and we need everyones support… help raise awareness by spreading the word… no more deaths on our roads… enough is enough! ***Please continue to keep both families affected by last nights incident in your prayers*** THANK YOU!!!

NODAPL – Jonathan Canlas #DefendTheSacred

Local bradda & long time Defend Hawai’i supporter Jonathan Canlas reached out to us a while back informing us about his plans on visiting North Dakota to help take part & cover the crazy events taking place between our Native American/Indigenous people & Energy Corporations/Government…

Here is a brief write up of his experience, for more please visit http://canlasphotography.blogspot.com/.

“Back in Nov. I got on a plane and flew to North Dakota to cover what is/was happening at Standing Rock. Why on earth would I get on a plane and go to someplace so cold and miss the state championship game of Kahuku vs St. Louis that I’ve been covering all season?

Because what is happening is unprecedented. It has been almost 500 years since this many tribes have come together in unity. And to witness first hand the stuff they don’t tell you on the news….” – Jonathan Canlas (click link for more)

12 Days of Mele Kalikimaka – Day 12 & 11

It’s about that time of the year when we hang up the lights, pull out the stockings and decorate the tree, that’s right it’s Christmas.

This Holiday we will be doing something a little special for all you. In the spirit of the holidays we will be celebrating the 12 days of Christmas. We’ve all heard the song growing up here in Hawai’i, you know the one with Tutu and the 5 big fat pigs. Well instead of Tutu giving out pounds of poi & ukuleles, we decided we do our own rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas & we will be calling it the 12 DAYS OF MELE KALIKIMAKA.

The 12 days from December 4th till December 15th will consist of Festive Gifts. Each day we will be featuring a special item at the price of the day starting from 12. So for example, on the 12th day of Christmas we will have 1 special item available for 12$, on the 11th day of Christmas we will have another special item available for 11$, on the 10th day of Christmas a new special item will be 10$ and so on, until we reach the 1st day of Christmas.

We hope this will encourage the spirit of giving more to the ones we hold close to us and even to the ones who are just entering our lives. Good luck shopping, happy holidays and have a Merry Christmas.
