LAWAI’A

Fishing is an art and a valuable resource to those seeking insight to Hawaii’s past. In Ancient Hawai’i, Hawaiians possessed a fundamental relationship with the sea. It brought their ancestors to the islands and provided an abundance of sustenance to Hawaii’s people.

Lawai’a, or Hawaiian Fisherman, was a honored profession and a valued asset to the community. They maintained an intimate connection with the sea, acquiring proficiency in lunar cycles and honing their skills to predict fish locations, spear fish, and set traps. Competition amongst lawai’a was fierce, and far travel from island to island was sometimes necessary to find enough food to feed their villages.

The many proverbs and tales of Ancient Hawaiians attest to how vital fishing was to Hawaii’s people. Lawai’a developed a myriad of tools and techniques that are still used today. Please join us in honoring those who continue to carry on these same values and traditions for their own families and communities.

The team will then be greeted by a host of fans in baggage claim, where a news conference is scheduled.

Meanwhile, the city says it is planning a parade to honor the Little League team. The hope is the parade will happen in about two weeks.

ALOHA NOT FOR SALE! #DefendHawaii

ALOHA NOT FOR SALE! For generations the aloha spirit that our beloved Hawaiian Islands perpetuate have been taken advantage of and used for outsiders gain, today is no different. In the beautiful windy city of Chicago a food establishment going by the name of “Aloha Poke Co.” has put in motion a very disrespectful, down right dirty Cease & Desist campaign against any and all Food establishments using the words “Aloha” & “Poke” in their trade name. Let’s go over the facts. “Aloha Poke Co.” is not a Hawai’i based establishment nor has it started it’s roots here on the islands. “Aloha Poke Co.” also has no knowledge of what the word “Aloha” means or comes from, or where “Poke” comes from for that matter. Their main location in Chicago does not employ any Native Hawaiians or show any respect or homage for the Hawaiian culture they are so willingly benefiting off of.

We are taking a stand using our platform to let the world know ALOHA IS NOT FOR SALE. Defend Hawai’i is a movement all of Hawai’i is a part of. No matter how small the matter may be, no matter how big the situations get, we as Hawaiians by blood or Hawaiians by birth are here to Defend Hawai’i.

Bringing back our “Aloha NSF” design we released a few years ago seems to fit in perfectly with the situations we face today just as it did two years ago. Along with the popular Aloha By The pound template revamped to fit the message “ALOHA IS NOT FOR SALE”.

Let’s support locals that live by and understand the values of Hawaiian culture. Fresh Catch bound! I need some real Hawaiian POKE served with real ALOHA.

Defend Hawai’i Now???

Have you seen this new political ad?

It seems to be a pro-Hanabusa commercial, but with politics, can we ever be sure? However, at the end, it says the ad is paid for by an organization called “Defend Hawaii Now”, AND WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THEM. Defend Hawaii Now is not even a legitimate business entity in Hawai’i.

It’s even MORE strange that their PO Box is located in the same city as ours!

We have received emails and phone calls inquiring about our involvement, and we feel infringed upon. NO PERMISSIONS were given to use Defend Hawai’i in this advertisement.

Definitely keep posted with us, because we WILL get to the bottom of this!

Again, WE ARE NOT AFFILIATED TO #DefendHawaiiNow

This is a reminder, that each of us need to take the time to find out who our candidates are, learn what they support, get registered to vote, and VOTE!!

Who’s REALLY Defending Hawai’i NOW?!?!
