“The University of Hawai’i women’s basketball team (22-7, 14-2 Big West) enters this week’s Big West Conference tournament as the No. 1 seed with the double bye. The Rainbow Wahine will start their play in the tournament in the semifinals and will face the lowest remaining seed on Friday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m. PT (9:00 a.m. HT) at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.” – Hawaii Athletics
“The Rainbow Wahine are taking their 14-game win streak into the tournament. It is the longest win streak during newly named Big West Coach of the Year Laura Beeman’s three-year tenure. The 14-game win streak ties the 1989-90 team’s longest win streak in program history. It is also the longest since UH won 19-straight games under then head coach Vince Goo in 1997-98. Hawai’i clinched their first conference title with a 47-46 win at Long Beach State on Feb. 26. It is their first conference title since the ‘Bows won the Western Athletic Pacific Division crown in 1997-98 under Goo. It also marks UH’s third Big West title after Goo led the ‘Bows to back-to-back first place finishes in 1992-93 and 1993-94. Hawai’i is looking for its second conference tournament title, UH won the Big West tourney in 1995-96.” – Hawaii Athletics
