Yancey Mederios : A True Fighting Hawaiian

This past weekend (May 14, 2016) was UFC 198: Werdum vs. Miocic at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil. This fight card featured Waianae native Yancey Mederios who fought against Brazils own Francisco Trinaldo.

Trinaldo and Medeiros went to war, back and forth for 15 minutes on the preliminary card. Though the fights resulted in a unanimous decision in Trinaldo’s favor, there is no denying the warrior spirit that Yancey embodies. Yancey’s relentless spirit kept him going throughout each round regardless of what Trinaldo threw. The epic brawl between the Hawaiian & Brazilian landed them the “Fight of the Night” title & a $50K bonus!

Congratulations to Trinaldo on the W, but this victory goes to both fighters. Showcasing their hard work and love for the sport which landed them the “Fight of the Night”. That’s something no judge decision can take away from these fighters. Yancey, we are proud of you and the way you fought. You showed determination and no signs of giving up, that is the true spirit of a fighting Hawaiian. We win some, we lose some but you live to fight another day. We are stoked to see what is next in line for your legacy, Yancey. Continue to strive for greatness and continue to Defend Hawai’i.
